South India Pictures
I finished editing the last album of this trip. So now all the pictures are here: South India, Sri Lanka and Hampi (town name). I like organising photos, those vivid images remind me so much of my travels. The photos might seem beautiful or exciting, the life on the road isn't always pleasant. This trip I was quite unsatisfied with the food. South Indian food is very spicy, I felt like I couldn't taste anything but spices. And I don't like coriander which is used a lot in Indian cooking. In Sri Lanka their main food is rice and curry. I like the taste of Sri Lanka curry, but most of cheap local restaurants and home-stays only have vegetarian food and not much variety. One month in Sri Lanka I pretty much lived on beans, potatoes and lentils. Chinese food is what I miss most every time I travel, now I'm very happy about being home again and I can eat as much as I want!

I think it is time to press the delete comment button again Leylop. I hope this person goes away.
I would have loved that spicy Indian food, but I would probably have had stomach problems. Was your stomach Ok eating their food?

what DC did you use to take these photos? it seems that it is the good photography skills behind your wonderful photos, not the DC.

Hi Leylop,
I've been following your blog for a couple of years...you're photos are amazing and always getting better! I have the same question as augix. What camera are you using?
Maybe you could make a FAQ link for boring questions such as this one?
Keep on keeping on...
Maile
PS - Mad respect to you for simply ignoring the creep leaving the pathetically profane messages.

If there's one thing everyone loves talking about, it's food!I had a girlfriend from Sri lanka once.....sigh...where is she now? Anyhow, boy could her mom cook!Spicy!!! but good. I ate a lot of south indian food when i was living in singapore. I liked it, lot's of variety, i thought. But i like the chinese best. I'm looking forward to lots of good hong kong and shenzen "street food" this winter.
speaking of food, i'd like to suggest a topic for your wonderful camera...Small, local hangzhou eateries. What do they look like? what does the food look like? what do we look for on our first trip to china when we want to try good cheap "real" chinese food?? friends say here about our local chinese restaurants:'oh, it's pretty good...but it's not real chinese food" What is? Help, leylop! :)
and, once again, welcome back!

I had some great food in Hangzhou, at some great big restaurant in the middle of the lake, at a cheaper (but better) restaurant near the night markets and also had a pleasant afternoon at a Hangzhou tea house nibbling on bits and pieces and drinking tea, very relaxing. The food was better than some expensive meals I had in Shanghai.

I always avoid expensive places. I like to look for those rare places where the owner seems to be proud to make simple food, local typical food, but to do it as much style as they can afford.Rustic, but dignified. Don't know if that can apply to china.

Leylop, it is ages since I last visited your blog - back then, you were yearning to go travelling like this, and so I'm glad to see you've managed to do it! Beautiful photos, by the way.

Dear Leylop,
Excellent write-ups and even better photographs of South Asia. I see your photos have been progressively improving since I last read your blog.
As a favor to us, budding shutterbugs, would you be able to indicate the camera and the settings used (e.g. white balance, exposure) for some (if not all) of your digital photos?
After witnessing the devastating aftermath of the '04 Boxing Day Tsunami, I'm wondering how are the people coping so far? From the photos I've seen so far, I hope that they're slowly but surely picking up their lives again.
Thanks again for a wonderful travelogue!
