Liar, Liar
I got an email from a guy called Chris Lee--
Well my readers probably know currently I'm looking for jobs and I always like teaching Chinese, so I spent half hour writing him back and explained everything about my online courses, hoping that he'll be interested in learning Chinese with me. For me teaching Chinese is easy and enjoyable, and I really need to have a bit more income. But after I sent out the message I noticed something strange, his email account(brothermoon0357@yahoo.com.cn) is at ''yahoo.com.cn'', which is Yahoo China site, and ''brothermoon0357'' looks very much like a Chinese person's email address. Out of curiosity, I googled it online, guess what I found?
In Chris Lee's email, he said he becomes very interested in Chinese culture after reading my blog and also wants to learn Chinese with me, but it turned out he's actually a 35 years old Chinese man! I wrote back to Mr. Lee immediately--
Mr. Lee, it seems you're also desperate for jobs at the moment. You said you've got many years of experience working in foreign companies, international trade... But I seriously doubt your integrity which would be very important in business, and I would never consider hiring you as my interpreter. You haven't replied my email and probably never will. If you're still reading my blog, I'm sorry to inform you that you might need to change your email address(Chris Lee:brothermoon0357@yahoo.com.cn). Because from now on every time somebody googles you, this post will appear, and it won't do any good to your reputation. That's my little revenge.
Dear Laylop, (wrong spelling)
After reading your blog. I become very interested in Chinese culture and learning Chinese online form you Please let me know the price, availability and your method of teaching.
Thanks & best regards,
Chris

Hi again,
I was just wondering how come your email address is ''yahoo.com.cn'', and I searched in google and found out this message--
''I'm a 35 years old male Chinese native freelance English interpreter...Please feel free to contact me at brothermoon0357@yahoo.com.cn..
Maybe it's a coincidence but you two happen to have the same email address! So does it mean you're actually a Chinese native? I have to say I'll be angry if you cheat me like that. If you want to know about my teaching methods, why don't you write to me and ask directly?? I would like to share my teaching experience with you. I like teaching languages and I feel proud more foreigners are learning Chinese. You don't need to pretend that you're a foreigner to get the information you want.

The internet was full of lies. For improving spoken English, today I googled that if any English native speakers want to make friends with an Chinese girl. Then I came here.Your articles are very attractive. And I learned that making friends through internet should be with caution.

Hi,
If you can share/download free music, why not share your teaching and translation methods as well? Isn't free better?
I remember you writing in your blog once upon a time how good it was to get free music...does it still seem so clear cut now that this person has attempted to scam you?

To the two anonymous posters criticizing Leylop:
Anonymous #1 (who posted in Chinese): You say you are disgusted by Leylop's actions. Yet you reply in Chinese and then request Leylop to translate your own response into English (like she doesn't have better things to do!). Obviously you have no confidence in your own English, and I wonder if you really even understood everything she wrote. It seems like you are lashing out based on your own impressions of her blog entry.
Anonymous #2:
Leylop made it clear that she's willing to share her teaching experience and methods with others. What she doesn't like is people asking for it under false pretenses.
I don't think I would have done what Leylop did, but on the other hand her revenge was very minor. This Chris Lee guy didn't suffer any real harm from it. Chris is not his real name; there must be thousands of Guang Zhou natives surnamed Lee who use Chris as their English nickname. The qualifications he posted were most likely fake, so we don't really know anything about him other than that he uses brothermoon0357@yahoo.com.cn as his email. In the end, he remains anonymous and didn't suffer any serious consequences. Hopefully he learned an important lesson from this experience, but I seriously doubt that.

This is sad and confusing andsomehow very chinese. I keep wondering, maybe he is an american born chinese, speaks some cantonese but no mandarin? but no, itdoesn't look like that. who knows? Sounds tricky, like he is trying to get some dishonest advantage...but what's the point? why bother?
Anyhow, the situation suggests itself as a good starting point for a short story or a novel. now, what happens next? Is it a detective story? does leylop track him down and uncover some short of mstery, identity theft or conspiracy? Is it a love story? god help us, i hope not!, Is it a comedy of errors, a Hong kong light comedy starring Sammi cheung and ,and...who does she usually star with?...oor is it an adventure story-will they meet and find that they have both all their lives been secretly looking for that famous gem, the jewel of the nile?
I don't know. it's an odd situation, though. Keep us posted, leylop. good luck job hunting. I just can't believe that there aren't hundreds of companies banging on your door, begging to hire you. not that you want to work in an office...

What's the big difference? Sharing is sharing: it's not like they will develop a deep long lasting relationship that will be shattered by the lack of trust. If her information is truely free, why not share it anyone with someone who is obviously desparate? Isn't that the best scenario: helping someone in need?
Actually, it was quite a funny _burn_ on "Mr. Lee" :-D

So silly, these chinese guys and gals wanting to learn about "how" to do something and always using the "copying" method. What else is new? But like the say, copying is the most sincerest form of flattery. Help him out? Why? Do you own god damn research and start up your own business the american way. Revenge is sweet and best served cold. Respect? Please. For the person that says you should not have exposed this guy in public, god, you hear of all these stories of people in China exposing each other, cheating boys and girls on the internet, please.
